Patriachal systems and Religion

“Oftentimes, patriarchal systems of power do not revolve around religion in the conventional sense of the word—complex political, economic, and social processes take place in specific contexts to give rise to patriarchal systems that exist in Muslim-majority societies and beyond. There are different ways that women resist these systems of power. Women may resist within the system or against the system by using strategies/arguments not located within gender role paradigms considered conventional in their local communities. It is critical that we focus on locating articles that analyze/examine more subtle forms of women’s resistance and claims to agency.”
